Canadian TE Theo Johnson Drafted 107th Overall By the New York Giants Out of Penn State

The New York Giants have drafted Canadian tight end Theo Johnson in the 4th round of the NFL Draft 107th overall on Saturday. Johnson was the second highest-rated prospect by CFL Central Scouting in their most recent rankings of prospects eligible for the CFL Draft. He is the 2nd Canadian player taken in the 2024 NFL Draft.

This past season Johnson started in all 13 games for Penn State recording 34 catches for 341 yards and seven touchdowns. He was named a team captain during the fall camp of the program. He was recognized by the coaches and media by being named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2023.

Over his career with Penn State, he has appeared in 44 games with 29 starts recording 77 receptions for 938 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is tied for 16th all-time for touchdowns by a tight end in the program’s history.

At the NFL Combine Johnson demonstrated incredible athleticism for a tight end of his stature. He ran a 4.57-second 40-yard dahs, a 7.15-second 3-cone drill, and a 4.19-second shuttle. He also performed 19 reps on the bench, a 39.5-inch vertical, and a 10’5” broad jump. He measures 6’6 and 259 pounds and is 23 years old.

Johnson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and grew up in Windsor, Ontario.
