These two just met in Week 5, and it wasn't close — Calgary put up 58 points and ran Toronto right off the field, 58-36. The Stamps have won four of the last five meetings between these clubs, and Vernon Adams Jr. has been nails against the Argos over his career at 5-5, including 405 yards and seven total touchdowns in that Week 5 blowout. He hasn't thrown a pick in his last 295 pass attempts, which is the kind of number that should worry a Toronto defense trying to find answers.

The Argos catch this game with a little life in the tank after snapping a two-game skid with a 26-12 win over BC last week. This is also Toronto's first home date of the season at BMO Field, where the club has gone 30-13 over the past five years — home cooking they'll need against a Calgary team that's 3-1 on the road. Chad Kelly has five 300-yard games in seven starts this year and is on a pace that would blow past Doug Flutie's franchise passing record, but he's also thrown 9 picks on the season and will be tested by a Calgary defense getting healthier by the week.

Players to Watch:

  • Vernon Adams Jr. (Calgary Stampeders, QB) — Leads the CFL with 21 passing TDs and hasn't thrown an interception all season, a stat that's almost hard to believe two-thirds of the way through the schedule.
  • Chad Kelly (Toronto Argonauts, QB) — Has 17 TD passes and gets a soft landing spot at home, where his career splits look a lot better than on the road.
  • Dedrick Mills (Calgary Stampeders, RB) — 628 yards and averaging near 6 a carry; if Calgary leans on the run early it could open up big shots downfield.

Injury Watch:

  • Kendall Randolph (Toronto Argonauts, OL) — Out (knee), a real hole up front against a Calgary front seven that's dangerous.
  • Owen Goss (Toronto Argonauts, LB) — Out (shoulder).
  • Alex Teubner (Toronto Argonauts, DB) — Out (hamstring), thin depth in the secondary against a Calgary passing attack that torched them for 405 yards in Week 5.
  • Lirim Hajrullahu (Toronto Argonauts, K) and John Haggerty III (Toronto Argonauts, P) — Both out, meaning Toronto's special teams situation is still shaky heading into a game that could come down to field position.

Pick: Calgary Stampeders 38-31. The Stamps have covered the spread in eight of their last nine games and gone over the total in every single one this season — with this much firepower and a Toronto O-line missing bodies, there's no reason to expect the under to hit here. Adams Jr.'s pick-free streak and Calgary's dominance in this series make them the play, even on the road.

Quick Hits

  • Toronto shuffled its O-line this week, adding Dakoda Shepley and Chris Kolankowski back to the active roster while Kendall Randolph stays on six-game injury — not ideal timing against Calgary's pass rush.
  • Cameron Judge returns off single-game injury for Toronto's linebacker corps, a needed boost given how banged up that unit has been.
  • With Calgary's over/under record sitting at a perfect 8-0 this season, anyone stacking Vernon Adams Jr. and this Stampeders passing game in season-long fantasy formats should feel good going into Thursday.
  • Calgary has covered the spread in 8 of its last 9 games — this offense simply hasn't slowed down, averaging huge point totals even in its two losses to Montreal.
