Collaros Ruled Out On Wednesday & Bomber Look To Start Streveler But Should Wilson Get A Chance?

It is Wednesday afternoon, and after all the uproar regarding "speculating" about Collaros, Collaros is officially ruled out for this week's game vs. Hamilton!

Before we go any further, I want to show the despicable response by some Saskatchewan players when Collaros got injured in the Banjo Bowl.

So Collaros is listed as "out" early on Wednesday, and it appears as if Streveler will start because he was taking first team reps, but should he start?

Streveler is 2-0 as a starter this season, helping lead the Blue Bombers to a season-opening win over the B.C. Lions with Collaros serving a one-game suspension and was then at the helm when the club knocked off the Toronto Argonauts at home in early August. His numbers sparkled in his first start, as he completed 15-of-24 for 246 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. In the second, not so much as he went 17-of-21 for 173 yards with three picks." - source

However, he is currently listed as number 8 in starters this week.

Likely a lot of his ranking has to do with Streveler's inconsistency.

So the question remains, should Wilson get a chance?
I get it, Wilson did not play well in the 2024 Grey Cup when he was called into duty. But is the Grey Cup the best evaluation place for a quarterback? And if you think it is, is it the best evaluation place for a quarterback when the play calling is terrible? The play calling should have been a lot more runs!

I get it, Wilson is largely an unknown at this point.

But is there a path forward for the Bombers with Streveler as their quarterback in a year Winnipeg hosts the grey Cup? I am not convinced. Let me ask this question. What changed from the Grey Cup in 2024 where the Bombers believed that Wilson gave them a better chance to win over Streveler being in at quarterback, to this point in the 2025 season?

The only possible argument I can see for starting Streveler is that he won both the games that he started this year. However, should he not win on Friday, I do not see any further argument for starting Streveler again, and it would be Wilson time, or time to find another quarterback...and yes I am speculating that Collaros is out for an expended period of time.
