Edmonton Elks Make Roster Move

On Thursday, the Edmonton Elks confirmed that American defensive back Aaron Grymes is no longer part of the roster. Grymes, who was on the verge of entering free agency in February, is now a free agent after his release.

Aaron Grymes’ Tenure with the Elks

During his time with the Elks, which spanned three non-consecutive periods (2013-2015, 2017-2018, 2021-2023), Grymes established a strong presence on the field. His overall performance included 240 defensive tackles and 12 interceptions throughout 79 games.

Highlights of Grymes’ Career

An experienced player, Grymes’ CFL career peaked in 2015 when he helped the Elks clinch the Grey Cup and earned the distinction of being a CFL All-Star. Following this, he had a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL during the 2016 season.

Injury Challenges and End of an Era

After a season with the BC Lions in 2019, Grymes returned to Edmonton. However, a knee injury hindered his ability to contribute to the team, leading to him missing two crucial seasons in 2022 and 2023. As Grymes looks to the future, the Edmonton Elks must adjust their roster in anticipation of the upcoming season.
