Elks Commit to Continuity on Offensive Line
The Edmonton Elks are fortifying their offensive line, securing Tomas Jack-Kurdyla with a two-year contract extension ahead of free agency. Jack-Kurdyla, whose tenure with the team could have concluded this February, is now slated to play through to the 2025 CFL season.
Since being selected fourth overall in the 2020 CFL Draft, Jack-Kurdyla has notched 42 game appearances with Edmonton. His contributions were especially notable during the 2023 season, where he took the field as starting right guard for 18 games and earned the CFL/Pro Football Focus Honour Roll recognition in Week 11 for his stellar performance.
Jack-Kurdyla, who hails from Montreal, Quebec, honed his skills during his time at the University of Buffalo, amassing 47 appearances as a guard. His efforts were instrumental in the Bulls receiving an honourable mention for the prestigious Joe Moore Award, celebrating exceptional offensive line play in the NCAA.
Augmenting the Roster with New Talent
Alongside Jack-Kurdyla’s renewal, the Elks announced the acquisition of two American talents, welcoming offensive lineman Antonio Garcia and defensive back Brendon White. Garcia returns to Edmonton after a brief spell that included the 2022 preseason games and participation in the season opener. His return to the green and gold comes after stints in other football leagues, including the XFL and USFL, and NFL experiences with teams like the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins.
Brendon White joins the Elks following an impactful season in the Indoor Football League with the Massachusetts Pirates, where he demonstrated his versatility on the field. With Rutgers University and Ohio State on his collegiate resume, White carries commendable pedigree influenced by his father’s illustrious NFL career.
These strategic roster enhancements underscore the Elks’ ongoing dedication to building a formidable team dynamic as they approach the upcoming season with a strengthened squad catered to both fortify their offensive line and bolster their defensive capabilities.
