Tiger-Cats Add QB Morgan and OL Gorczyca to Roster

As the Hamilton Tiger-Cats prepare for the 2026 CFL Draft and the 2026 CFL Global Draft, the Tiger-Cats are also still in the process of filling out their training camp roster with prospects. With the CFL drafts occurring this week, the start of training camp is just around the corner. The start of training camp focuses on bringing in the rookies on the Tiger-Cats roster and determining which players will move on to the official start of camp.

To accurately evaluate rookie prospects, Hamilton tends to bring in an inflated roster to deepen the talent pool during evaluations. The latest players to be signed by Hamilton are likely to be coming to the Tiger-Cats roster in an effort to have functional practices during the rookie portion of camp. However, this does give players an opportunity to impress the Hamilton coaching staff and potentially earn a chance to contribute to the Tiger-Cats for the rest of the pre-season and beyond.

The Tiger-Cats have signed American quarterback Jacobian Morgan and American offensive lineman Nolan Gorczyca, according to the CFL Transactions list.

American quarterback Jacobian Morgan comes to the CFL after playing college football at the University of Syracuse (2020-2022) and Jackson State University (2023-2024). While playing at Syracuse, Morgan appeared in 6 games, completing 32 passes for 50 yards and 288 yards, along with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Morgan then transferred to Jackson State University, where he made a much more significant impact, playing in 26 games and passing for 4,080 yards with 40 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions.

The 6’4″, 230-pound Morgan has the prototypical frame of a professional quarterback. In addition, he has demonstrated the ability to be a dual-threat playmaker while rushing for 668 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns at Jackson State. Morgan has a reputation for an elite football IQ and a track record of outstanding leadership.

Along with signing Morgan, the Tiger-Cats have also signed American offensive lineman Nolan Gorcyzca. The 6’6″, 315-pound offensive lineman Gorczyca is originally from Omaha, Nebraska, and started his college football career at the University of Buffalo in 2021. In 2022, Gorczyca transferred to the University of Kansas, where he played in 28 games, including 3 starts, from 2022 to 2025.

Gorczyca brings a massive frame to the CFL and has a reputation for durability. In addition, Gorzyca is an outstanding blocker in zone schemes, and he has the versatility to play at any spot on the offensive line. A notable weakness for Gorzyca is his high center of mass, which makes him susceptible to being knocked off balance by opposing pass rushers. However, Gorzyca’s outstanding hand techniques and footwork give him a natural answer to being knocked off balance.
