Calgary Stampeders have proudly announced their latest addition to the team, national linebacker Jordan Herdman-Reed, bringing his extensive CFL experience to enhance the teamโs defensive unit.
Hailing from South Delta, BC, Herdman-Reed brings with him a wealth of professional football experience. This versatile linebacker is a seasoned veteran of the sport, with 69 regular-season games under his belt over five impactful seasons with the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders. His CFL career was ignited when he was selected by BC in the sixth round of the 2017 draft. Following three successful seasons with the Lions, Herdman-Reed signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2021, further establishing his status as a dynamic player on the field.
His college years were equally impressive, setting the foundation for his professional career. Herdman-Reed played for four seasons at Simon Fraser University, earning himself the title of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year twice. The hard-hitting linebacker set a school record for career tackles, amassing an impressive 428 tackles and setting the conferenceโs single-game tackles record with 26.
During his professional tenure, Herdman-Reed has consistently delivered robust performances. He has recorded 96 defensive tackles, including one tackle for loss, 50 special-teams stops, three sacks, one forced fumble, and five knockdowns.
In addition to this exciting acquisition, the Stampeders have also shared an update on their roster. National defensive back Demetri Royer has unfortunately been placed on the six-game injury list. The team will undoubtedly be eager to have Royer back on the field as soon as heโs fit to play.
The signing of Herdman-Reed marks a strategic move for the Calgary Stampeders as they look forward to a promising 2023 season.
