The Montreal Alouettes announced 3 changes to their football operations staff on Thursday including 2 promotions to current football operations staff. Montreal also announced the hiring of Marcel Desjardins to serve as Special Assistant to the General Manager and Player Personnel.
Pier Yves Lavergne has been named Assistant General Manager after serving as the Director of National Scouting for the Alouettes since joining them in 2022. Jean-Marc Edme has been promoted to Executive Director of Player Personnel after serving as the Director of Professional Player Personnel for the Alouettes since 2022.
“With our recent successes, I am obviously very happy with the work of my team,” stated Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia. “I am excited about the return of Marcel Desjardins to the Alouettes and Pier-Yves Lavergne and Jean-Marc Edme are excited about the challenge ahead of them, they fully deserve this vote of confidence.”
Pier-Yves Lavergne
Pier Yves Lavergne joined Montreal as Director of National Scouting in 2022 and will now serve as the Assistant General Manager.
Lavergne played in college for the University of Ottawas from 2010 to 2012 before playing for the University of Montreal from 2013 to 2014. He won the Vanier Cup with the Carabins in 2014. In 2015 he worked as the Defensive & Special Teams Assistant Coach for the Carabins which saw the team make it to the Vanier Cup.
Lavergne worked for the Ottawa Redblacks joining as a Football Operations Assistant in 2016 and was the Assistant Director of Player Personnel in 2021 which was his final year with the Redblacks. The Redblacks won the Grey Cup in 2016.
Marcel Desjardins
Marcel Desjardins joins the Alouettes as Special Assistant to the General Manager and Player Personnel. He originally joined the Alouettes in 1999 as Assistant Director of Football Operations working his way up to Assistant General Manager from 2002 to 2006.
Desjardins was the General Manager of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 2006 to 2007. He worked as the Assistant General Manager with Montreal again from 2008 to 2012.
Desjardins had a second opportunity to work as a CFL General Manager with the Ottawa Redblacks where he held the position from 2013 to 2021. Over that span, Ottawa appeared in 3 Grey Cups and won it in 2016.
Jean-Marc Edme
Jean-Marc Edme has been promoted to Senior Personnel Executive. He joined Montreal in 2022 as Director of Pro Personnel. Part of his responsibilities will be to find American talent at the NCAA and professional levels. Edme has been a part of a Grey Cup champion team in 3 separate seasons.
His CFL career began in 2007 as a football operations intern with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. From 2008 to 2015 he worked for the Montreal Alouettes as a Defensive Assistant. He was a scout with the Alouettes through 2015.
Edme worked with the Ottawa Redblacks from 2016 to 2021 joining as Player Personnel Coordinator and was the Interim Assitant General Manager in his final year.
The Alouettes announced the football operations staff will serve in the following roles for the upcoming season.
Danny Maciocia: General Manager
Pier-Yves Lavergne: Assistant General Manager
Marcel Desjardins: Assistant to the General Manager and Player Personel
Eric Deslauriers: Senior Director of Football Operation / Player Personnel
Jean-Marc Edmé: Senior Personnel Executive
