Montreal Alouettes Sign QB Dominique Davis Following Caleb Evans Season Ending Injury

On Tuesday Montreal announced they have signed quarterback Dominique Davis. Montreal had another strong win in week 9 but they took another hit to their quarterback room as Caleb Evans suffered a season-ending injury on a 7-yard run with just over 2 minutes left in the game. Evans attempted 1 pass earlier in the game in which he connected with Charleston Rambo for a 39-yard touchdown.

Dominique Davis played most recently for the BC Lions in 2023 where he was often utilized in short yardage. Davis has played in 8 CFL seasons and appeared in 82 games. He has completed 344 of his 549 passes for 3,967 yards and 14 touchdowns. Additionally, he has 499 rushing yards over 199 rushes (2.5 average) and 30 rushing touchdowns.

Davis was with Montreal in 2022 which saw him start in 1 game against Toronto and completed 13 of his 14 passes for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception and rush for 9 yards and a touchdown.

“I have always liked the attitude of this veteran who is a true leader both on the field and in the locker room,” said Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia. “His energy is contagious, he knows our team and the CFL well. His acquisition has just added depth to our team.”
