More Work To Be Done: Winnipeg Blue Bombers Re-Sign 3 More Pieces Of The Puzzle

To nobody’s surprise, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are hard at work assembling a team that wants to find its way back to the Grey Cup in 2023 and reclaim glory! This week the Bombers have re-signed 3 key pieces to that puzzle.

Jackson Jeffcoat

The first signing this week was the highly anticipated Jackson Jeffcoat, who signed a 1 year deal. The writing was on the wall as his picture appeared on the Bomber’s 2023 schedule which was released in December. I thought that signing was going to occur sooner, but to me it was an inevitable signing.

Known for disrupting opponents offence he had 20 defensive tackles, 4 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble in his 2022 campaign.

While 2022 was his worst season, I am sure Jeffcoat is looking to put up bigger numbers in 2023.

Asotui Eli

The Bombers did not stop there this week. They also had Asotui Eli put pen to paper signing a 3 year deal. To many this is not a flashy signing. However, winning the game is often done by winning the line of scrimmage. This 6-4, 326 pound Canadian offensive lineman may help provide protection for Zach Collaros, protection that will be paramount for the Bombers to keep their winning ways alive.

Mike Miller

Known for making huge hits and tackles – as much as being known for not practicing – this is a huge signing for the Bombers. During the 2021 season Mike Miller became the all-time CFL leader in special teams tackles – now holding 226 special team tackles. In a game where field position is critical, Miller is a guy you want on your team. He is down the field fast, sheds blocks, comes in and absolutely lowers the boom! Like Jeffcoat Miller decided that a 1 year contract was the right deal for himself.

The Bombers have now extended 9 players from their pending free agent list, but there is more work to be done.

Who would you like to see the Bombers extend next? Let me know in the comments.

Jamie Nye believes there are some notable Bombers that did not make the CFL.ca Top 30 pending free agents. Do you think those Bombers should have been in the Top 30 pending free agents?
