Roughriders Loucheiz Purifoy Involved In ‘disturbance’ Sunday Night

Loucheiz Purifoy DB for the Saskatchewan Roughriders was involved in a ‘disturbance’ after Sunday’s West Division semifinal. The incident took place Sunday after the teams’ thrilling win against Calgary at a Regina restaurant.

During today’s press conference, Purifoy says he should have walked away. He was detained overnight and released without charge.

The Roughriders released the following statement.

“Yesterday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders were made aware that Loucheiz Purifoy was with a party that created a disturbance at a local restaurant Sunday evening. The Club has looked into this matter and while the police were called to the establishment, Purifoy has not been charged with any wrongdoing related to the incident.”

The ‘disturbance’ began over slow service at the restaurant and was escalated by a woman in his group. She has been charged with common assault.

Purifoy was named the Riders Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2021. He finished the season with 39 tackles and two interceptions.

The Roughriders beat the Stampeders 33-30 in overtime Sunday to advance to the West Division final. They travel to Winnipeg to take on the Blue Bombers this Sunday.
