Tiger-Cats Address Injuries with Four Additions to Roster

Heading into Week 16 of the 2025 season, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats lead the East Division with an 8-5 record. Last week, they earned a hard-fought win against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, maintaining a buffer over the Montreal Alouettes despite missing several players on the defensive line and in the offensive backfield due to ongoing injuries. At the Tiger-Cats prepare to face the Edmonton Elks this week, Hamilton is making moves to reinforce their depth chart.

Injury issues are familiar to the Tiger-Cats, but so far, they have made only minor roster changes. Last week, they signed wide receiver Myron Mitchell to bolster depth on offence, but had not yet fully addressed recent injuries. This week, according to the CFL Transactions list, the team made several roster moves and added four players to its expanded Hamilton practice roster.

To start the day, the Tiger-Cats announced that they had signed American running back Marcus Yarns and American defensive tackle Caiden Woullard. These new signings reflect the team's ongoing effort to bolster their lineup in the face of continued injuries.

In addition to signing Yarns and Woullard, the Tiger-Cats also moved American running back Shane Watts to their practice roster, along with American linebacker Ryan Meed and American DB Cameron Bergeron. As the Tiger-Cats look to make their big push to the playoffs every player added to Hamilton's roster needs to bring them closer to their goals Specifically, the Hamilton has been in dire need of more depth at the running back position and additional personnel along their defensive line.

Tiger-Cats New Roster Additions

On the offensive side of the ball, American running back Marcus Yarns should give the Tiger-Cats an insurance plan in case of more injuries to running backs. The 5-11, 190-pound Yarns recently spent time with the New Orleans Saints heading into the 2025 NFL season. Before that, he played collegiately at the University of Delaware from 2020 until 2023, where he ran 232 times for 1,500 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 47 receptions for 515 yards and 6 touchdown catches. In addition to Yarns, Shane Watts joins the practice roster, following his stint with the New England Patriots.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Tiger-Cats added defensive tackle Caiden Williams to their defensive line, linebacker Ryan Meed, and defensive back Cameron Bergeron. Williams finished his college football career at Oklahoma in 2024, where he played in 11 games. Previously, Williams played three seasons at Miami University of Ohio, and he posted 15 quarterback sacks during his collegiate career. Ryan Meed is a 6-1, 230-pound linebacker from Brooklyn, New York, and he played college football at the University of Illinois, where he appeared in 50 games for the Fighting Illini. In the defensive backfield, Bergeron comes to the CFL after playing college football at Duke University, where he recorded 97 total tackles and five quarterback sacks.
