The European League of Football‘s 2021 MVP, Madre London, will not be returning to the Cologne Centurions for the 2022 season. Instead, he’ll be joining the USFL‘s Pittsburgh Maulers for their upcoming season.
London was the ELF’s clear MVP in 2021, ending the season with 303 rushing attempts for 2,177 yards (7.2 YPA) and 23 touchdowns in only 10 games. He averaged 217.7 yards per game and his longest run of the season came on an 86 yard scoring play. Upon the season’s end, London was named an ELF All-Star, earned the ELF’s MVP award, and was named to American Football International’s 2021 All-Europe First Team as the top running back in Europe.
Centurions general manager David Drane commented on London’s departure, stating,
“We are happy but at the same time sad, Madre [London] was one of the stars of the European League of Football last season and helped to put the Centurions into the playoffs. He is a great guy off the field, a humble hard-working player and I wish him all the best as he takes another step in the direction of his athletic goals. He will always be a Centurion and we wish him all the best”.
The remaining running backs on the Centurions roster are Dean Ranwani and Toby Nick, who could be set up for breakout seasons in 2022. Additionally, the franchise will bring in a currently unannounced American import player to help fill the hole that London left.

The Berlin Thunder have signed defensive back Robby Kendall for the 2022 season.
The versatile defensive weapon and return specialist recently expressed his excitement to join the Thunder, stating,
“I’m ecstatic to be joining the Berlin Thunder, as well as joining the most professional American football league in all of Europe, I know the owners, the management, the coaching staff, and everybody else involved put in a lot of work this off-season to build a championship organization. I can’t wait to get to Berlin and start putting in work with my coaches and teammates”.
While this will be Kendall’s first season in the European League of Football, he’s already gained some experience playing in Europe for the Paderborn Dolphins, Elmshorn Fighting Pirates, and the Düsseldorf Panther.
