European League of Football Season Conclusion, Finals Are Set

It’s been a great inaugural season for the ELF, despite the discrepancies in records. From the Galaxy losing only 1 game, to the Surge only winning only 2, each team were much closer than their results. Not a single team had multiple players as statistical leaders. Of the 6 categories, passing, rushing, receiving, tackling, and interceptions, Frankfurt, Cologne, Barcelona, Berlin, and Hamburg players lead each numerical group.

The regular season started on June 19th, and wrapped up on September the 5th, with a 12-week season and each team getting 2 bye weeks. With 3 of the 4 playoff teams already decided by the final games, 2 teams battled for the chance to make it to the postseason.

The Wroclaw Panthers and Leipzig Kings played to take on the South Division champs, the Hamburg Sea Devils last week, with the Panthers coming out victorious. The Cologne Centurions challenged the North Division champs Frankfurt Galaxy in the first round of the semifinals.

The Galaxy hosted the Centurions, and although the 36-6 score didn’t show it, the game, was much better than it seemed. The Galaxy opened up a 21-0 lead, but for a time, both defenses were successful in stopping each offense, including the star RB Madre London.

The Finals take place on September 26th in Dusseldorf, Germany. Galaxy QB Jakeb Sullivan released a statement about making the Finals:

The Hamburg and Wroclaw game was much closer, coming down to the lat minute or the game. Wroclaw had an opportunity to put the game away late, taking a 4 point lead, but Hamburg mounted a drive to take back the lead 30-27.

With less than 2:00 to go, the Panthers had the chance for at least a game-winning drive. They did get within field goa; range, but Tafgh Leader was unable to covert, giving the Sea Devils the victory.

Hamburg RB Xavier Johnson had this to say about appearing in the first-ever ELF Finals:
