The first-ever European Coaches Convention is set to take place on November 6-7, 2021, in Berlin, with Legendary NFL coach Wade Phillips as the event’s main speaker.
Phillips has an outstanding resume as an NFL coach, with nearly 50 years of experience as a head coach and defensive coordinator, spending time with the LA Rams, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, and Houston Oilers. Additionally, Phillips has made multiple Super Bowl appearances, getting his first Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl 50 when he served as the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator.
As a coach, Wade Phillips’ defenses have produced multiple Defensive Players of the Year, including Reggie White, Bryce Paup, Bruce Smith, J. J. Watt and Aaron Donald. In addition, Mike Croel and Shawne Merriman are two other players who have won the title of Defensive Rookie of the Year under Phillips.
While he officially retired after parting ways with the LA Rams following the 2019 season, Phillips recently declared his intention to get back into coaching. The global events of the last 2 years have made a return to coaching a bit tricky for the 74-year-old, but Phillips is keeping his options open, as he sees plenty of opportunity with a handful of new leagues currently starting up.
Event Details
The European Coaches Convention was organized by Jesus Sanchez and Bart Iaccarino, the Barcelona Dragons front office leaders. The event will feature 2 masterclasses by former NFL Coach Wade Phillips on top of a series of presentations by a mixture of top European coaches for a total of 10 hours of coaching clinics. Additionally, there will be a Q&A session and plenty of networking opportunities for European coaches.
Phillips first masterclass, titled “How To Be A Coach”, will take place on Saturday, November 6th at 5 pm CET, with the second, titled “3-4 Defense”, taking place on Sunday, November 7th, at 12 pm CET.
There’re only 200 spots available for the event, and the cost of entry is 249 euros per person. Cost of entry includes a convention certificate, 8 clinic sessions, 2 masterclasses, lunch on Saturday & Sunday – buffet style, unlimited water & juices, coffee break, notepad & pen.
