Jerjuan Newton caught three touchdown passes and Hamilton scored the only points of the second half to beat Toronto 20-14.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats trailed the Toronto Argonauts 14-13 at halftime at Alumni Stadium before a fourth-quarter touchdown decided the game. Tre Ford threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jerjuan Newton in the fourth quarter for the winning score. Newton caught touchdown passes from both Jake Dolegala and Ford. The game was a Year 2026 CFL preseason matchup in Week 3, the final preseason week before the regular season.

How It Happened

Hamilton scored first in the first quarter. Jake Dolegala threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Jerjuan Newton, and Zachary Copeland's convert made it 7-0.

Toronto answered in the second quarter. Owen Goss intercepted a Dolegala pass and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown. The convert failed, leaving Hamilton ahead 7-6. Samuel Hicks then ran 37 yards for a touchdown, and a Tristan Ready two-point convert pass put Toronto up 14-7. Hamilton responded before halftime. Tre Ford threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Newton, and Copeland's convert tied it 14-14.

Neither team scored in the third quarter.

Hamilton took the lead in the fourth quarter. Ford threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Newton to cap a four-play, 79-yard drive. The convert failed, setting the score at 20-14. Toronto did not score again.
