It was another odd week when it came down to the scheduling. This was the second week in a row where three teams were on a bye. In the end, Hamilton made a big statement in Winnipeg with a 37-27 win in one of the most hostile environments in the CFL. Montreal fought back in the 4th quarter to drop Toronto with a 37-30 victory. To end the week, Saskatchewan made the most of it with a game-winning drive with a 31-27 win over BC.
Hello CFL Fans! Here are your CFL News Hub Power Rankings after Week 2.
1 – Saskatchewan Roughriders
Record: 1 – 0
Previous ranking: 1
The defending Grey Cup Champions hosted the BC Lions in a highly entertaining game. It was a beautiful display by both quarterbacks. Nathan Rourke tossed 330 yards with no touchdown passes, while Trevor Harris went 30 for 36, 417 passing yards, and 3 touchdown passes. It was a game that came down to the wire when Saskatchewan capped off a touchdown drive with 00:51 left in the game in a 31-27 comeback victory.
Next game: Saturday, June 20th, 2026, in Calgary.
2 – Montreal Alouettes
Record: 2 – 0
Previous ranking: 3
The Alouettes look like a team that could never be counted out during the 2026 season. It was not perfect vs. Toronto. However, they shut the door on Toronto in the 4th quarter with defence and special teams’ protection. Davis Alexander did what he knows best in dissecting a defence. Montreal came out big, holding the Argos to only 61 total yards on the ground.
Next game: Saturday, June 20th, 2026, in Edmonton.
3 – Hamilton Tiger – Cats
Record: 1 – 1
Previous ranking: 6
The Tiger-Cats were hoping not to begin the season 0-2. After a loss to Montreal in week 1 (30-27 in OT), the Tabbies had a tough task on the road in Winnipeg. They answered the bell in making the Winnipeg running game a non-factor, holding Brady Oliveira to only 32 yards on 8 carries. Braxton Hill had a big game with 9 tackles. They hit the win column early and have a little weight lifted off their shoulders.
Next game: Friday, June 19th, 2026 vs. BC.
4 – BC Lions
Record: 0 - 1
Previous ranking: 2
It was a perfect match for the BC Lions in week 2. Play against the one who dethroned you last season in the West Final. This game did not fall short of being a great football game. Let's say that both fans got their money's worth. The one fault for BC was that they were unable to establish a consistent running game, with James Butler being a non-factor. Both defences played well enough for that matter, as it was an aerial game. As the game went on, it felt as though the team with the last possession would win. This was the case with Saskatchewan closing the door late in the 4th quarter.
Next game: Friday, June 19th, 2026, in Hamilton.
5 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Record: 1 – 1
Previous ranking: 4
Sometimes you have a game where it could go either way. For Winnipeg, they came out a little too flat in some areas vs. Hamilton. The one x-factor for Winnipeg came in the 2nd quarter, with no points scored when Winnipeg would experience an interception and a missed field goal. Without a running game, Zach Collaros was great, hitting his targets with Tommy Neild for 111 yards, Ontaria Wilson for 87 yards and 1 touchdown, Tim White for 79 yards, and Nic Demski for 79 yards and 1 touchdown.
Next game: Winnipeg will be on a bye in week 3. Their next game will be Thursday, June 25th, vs Edmonton.
Record: 0 – 1
Previous ranking: 5
Calgary had the week off. They will stay in the West Division as they travel to Regina, Saskatchewan.
Next game: Saturday, June 20th, 2026, vs. Saskatchewan.
7 – Edmonton Elks
Record: 1 – 0
Previous ranking: 7
Edmonton was off in week 2. Their week 2 journey will involve Montreal on the road. This will be a big measuring stick for the Green and Gold if they are able to cause an upset.
Next game: Saturday, June 20th, 2026, vs. Montreal.
8 – Toronto Argonauts
Record: 0-1
Previous ranking: 8
A lot of good things occurred for the Argos on the road in Montreal. After climbing back into the game, Toronto had an opportunity to create separation from Montreal. However, the 4th quarter was a complete collapse. The defence was exposed, and Montrel blocked a punt deep in Toronto’s end, resulting in a scoring major. In the end, Toronto allowed Montreal to score 3 straight touchdowns, placing the game out of reach. This was a doable game in Montreal that Toronto let slip away.
Next game: Saturday, June 20th, 2026, in Ottawa.
9 – Ottawa Redblacks
Record: 0-1
Previous ranking: 9
Ottawa was on a bye in week 2. They will host Toronto in week 3 in a must-win game for both clubs.
Next game: Saturday, June 20th, 2026, vs. Toronto.
