Alouettes’ WR Tyson Philpot Ruled Out For the Season

Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Tyson Philpot announced on Thursday that he will not be able to return this season on Instagram. Philpot was in the midst of a tremendous season prior to sustaining a foot injury in week 10 that resulted in him being placed on the 6-game injured list. He had surgery 2 weeks ago and will require a second surgery to remove a screw in the coming weeks per TSN.

“Shoutout my team, the fans of the CFL and the whole city of Montreal! I can’t wait to be back healthy and write this next chapter in 2025!” Philpot stated on Instagram.

Philpot had recorded 58 passes for 779 yards and 5 touchdowns which saw him 2nd in the league in receiving at the time of his injury. He is still 7th in the league despite the games missed.

P

hilpot was extended through the 2025 season this past offseason after being a key piece in Montreal’s Grey Cup run. He caught 47 passes for 532 yards and 5 touchdowns over 13 regular season games in 2023. He recorded the most receptions in the CFL postseason last year as he hauled in 15 passes for 144 yards and a game-winning touchdown in the Grey Cup with 13 seconds left.

Montreal currently has 5 receivers on their 6-game injured list including Canadians Regis Cibasu, Kaion Julien-Grant, Tyson Philpot, and Americans Austin Mack and Tyler Snead. Some good news on the injury front is that Kaion Julien-Grant and Tylers Snead were both full participants in practice this week
