Edmonton Elks (2-11) vs. BC Lions (4-9)
Friday, November 19th at 7:30 pm PST at BC Place
After ending their 8-game losing streak with a win against the Toronto Argonauts earlier this week, The Edmonton Elks are set to play their final game of the season on Friday against the BC Lions. The Lions are on a 7-game losing streak of their own, coming off a loss to the Calgary Stampeders last Friday. Additionally, the Lions only home win of the season came against the Redblacks, who have been consistently the worst team in the league throughout the year.
The playoffs are well out of the question for both of these teams, but they’ll each look to end the year on a positive note. That being said, the Lions will have a pretty significant advantage due to the Elks playing 2 other games within the last 7 days.
This will be Edmonton’s second trip to Vancouver this season, after beating the Lions 21-16 in Week 3. However, things have changed a bit since the last time they met. Rookie Nathan Rourke will be making his 2nd career start for BC, giving Michael Reilly some much-needed rest after playing a significant portion of the season with an injured elbow.
On the Elks side, rookie quarterback Taylor Cornelius will make his 6th consecutive start. This decision has left many fans questioning why the team isn’t using this time to see what they have in Nick Arbuckle, who they traded for from the Argonauts near the end of October and have financially committed to for the 2022 season.
While neither of these teams will be advancing to the playoffs, don’t expect them to take it easy this game. Both of these teams would like to end this season positively, getting one final win on the year and setting the tone for 2022.
