A New Chapter Begins

The Calgary Stampeders have officially announced that Craig Dickenson is rejoining the team, taking up the role of senior consultant. This marks a significant return for Dickenson, contributing his extensive coaching background to the Stampeders’ strategy and development once more.

Reuniting with the Red and White

Having previously served on the Stampeders’ coaching staff for seven fruitful years, one of which included clinching the Grey Cup in 2008, Dickenson’s return has been met with positive reactions. Both the general manager and head coach, Dave Dickenson, expressed enthusiasm for Craig’s return, highlighting his deep connections in football circles across North America. This addition is expected to bolster the team’s scouting and player personnel strategies significantly.

“Craig is well connected in both the CFL as well as U.S. football and he will make our staff better,” said Stampeders general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson. “He’ll be a valuable resource in many areas including advance scouting and player personnel. We’re glad to have Craig back with the Red and White.”

Extensive Coaching Background

Craig Dickenson’s coaching résumé is notable, spanning 30 years across the CFL, NFL, and U.S. college football. His CFL journey alone accounts for two decades, including a four-year term as the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Besides his contributions to the Roughriders, Dickenson has made his mark with teams such as Montreal, Winnipeg, and Edmonton—where he earned his second Grey Cup ring in 2015.

From the Field to the Sidelines

Before transitioning into coaching, Craig Dickenson was a kicker at the University of Montana, where he also began his coaching career. His coaching experience extends beyond the CFL to the NFL, where he served as a coach for the Chargers and the Raiders, and collegiate football, notably at his alma mater and Utah State.

With his return, Craig Dickenson is set to contribute to the Calgary Stampeders’ pursuit of success in the upcoming seasons. His vast experience and familiarity with the team’s culture are anticipated to serve as key assets in the Stampeders’ ongoing efforts to excel within the CFL.
