Former Pittsburgh Steeler Devlin “Duck” Hodges will be added to the roster for the Ottawa REDBLACKS for their matchup against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Hodges will be listed as a backup to the starting Rookie QB Caleb Evans.
The 6 ft 1 prospect from Samford played 5 years in college. He finished his collegiate career playing 45 games, where he won the 2018 Walter Payton award, the same year he set the NCAA FCS career record for passing yards. At the end of his senior year he had recorded a 69.1 completion percentage on 1,896 attempts, passed for 14,584 yards, 111 touchdowns, 41 interceptions, averaging 7.7 yards an attempt.
During his time with the Steelers, he played in 8 games, starting 6, and recorded a 3-3 record. Throughout those games he recorded a 62.5 completion percentage on 160 attempts, throwing for 1,063 yards, 5 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 5 fumbles only losing 1.
He recently signed a reserve/future contract with the Los Angeles Rams before being waived and signing a 3-Year deal with the Ottawa REDBLACKS. This game will mark the first time he is active for a Canadian football game.
The Ottawa REDBLACKS and “Duck” Hodges will travel to Hamilton to take on the Tiger-Cats. Kickoff is 4:00 PM EST on Saturday, October 23rd.
