RB Augustine and DB Walton Back with Tiger-Cats

This week has been a busy one for the Tiger-Cats as they make some safe moves to start the roster-building process for the 2026 CFL season. Earlier this week, the Tiger-Cats signed and re-signed several players they know will definitely fit into their plan for 2026, like long snapper Gordon Whyte and wide receiver Tyler Ternowski, along with other players they intend to evaluate at the rookie mini-camp or training camp. Hamilton has also added defensive tackle Branson Deen, who may help fill a need at the interior defensive line.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats continue to build momentum for their 2026 roster. On November 26th and 27th, they re-signed National running back Johnny Augustine and American defensive back Zamari Walton, announcing the news today on their X account and in a press release.

National running back Johnny Augustine will return to the Tiger-Cats’ offensive backfield for at least another season after his first season in Hamilton during the 2025 season. During the 2025 season, Augustine played in 17 games and ran the ball 61 times for 242 yards, along with catching 12 passes for 134 yards. Before coming to Hamilton, the 5’9″, 202-pound Guelph graduate played six seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2018 until 2024. During his CFL career, Augustine has run for over 1,512 rushing yards and 300 receiving yards and has scored four total touchdowns, including three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.

Zamari Walton, an American defensive back, began his college football career at Georgia Tech, where he played in 38 games from 2018 to 2022, recording 87 solo tackles, 37 assists, and 3 interceptions. Walton then transferred to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 2023, where he played in 13 games, recording 23 solo tackles, 15 assists, and 2 interceptions. After his college career, he spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL during 2024. Walton made his CFL debut in 2025 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, appearing in 2 games and recording 7 solo tackles. Standing 6’3″ and weighing 185 pounds, Walton now has the opportunity to return to Hamilton.
