Montreal Alouettes Agree to Terms with DL Josh Archibald and OL Cyrille Hogan-Saindon, Sign Former NFL WR Kyric McGowan

The Montreal Alouettes have also agreed to terms with 2 Canadian players slated to enter free agency with the club reaching an agreement to sign with Canadian DL Josh Archibald and Canadian OL Cyrille Hogan-Saindon per sources. The Alouettes also announced on Monday the signing of American WR Kyric McGowan to a 2-year contract.  

Josh Archibald comes home to Montreal where he was born. He played in 17 games with the BC Lions over this past season which saw him record 15 tackles, 6 special team tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 4 sacks. He was a 3rd round draft pick with the BC Lions in 2022 and appeared in 1 game that season. He has since played in 34 regular season games. 

Archibald primarily was a special teams player before this year and did not have a defensive tackle prior to this past season. Over his first 17 games, he recorded 10 special teams tackles. Last season also saw Montreal sign an underused Canadian defensive lineman from the West when they brought in Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund who was the team’s selection for Most Outstanding Canadian in 2024.

Cyrille Hogan-Saindon is another addition hailing from Quebec originally as he was born in Quebec City. The Laval product was a 2nd round draft pick for the Ottawa Red Blacks in 2022 where he spent the last 3 seasons. He was the starting center for the Ottawa RedBlacks over the first 8 games before moving to a depth role. He started in every game at center for Ottawa in 2023. In 2022 he started in 1 game at center and was in depth positions for his other 16 games.

Kyric McGowan signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2022 he didn’t record a catch in 2022 but dressed in 2 games. He was placed on injured reserve ahead of the 2023 season and waived shortly after. He has played in 8 preseason games with the Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins which saw him record 10 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown with Miami this past season. He also returned 7 kickoffs for 139 yards.

McGowan played for Northwestern University from 2017 to 2020 which saw him record 68 catches for 802 yards and 2 touchdowns and rush 55 times for 352 yards and 2 touchdowns. Additionally, he returned 22 kickoffs for 531 yards. He played for Georgia Tech in 2021 where he caught 37 passes for 467 yards and 7 touchdowns over 11 games.
