Predictions: CFL News Hub Writers’ Division Semi-Final Picks

CFL playoff time is now. The Ottawa RedBlacks will travel to take on the Toronto Argonauts in the Eastern Semi-Final on Saturday. The Western Semi-Final will follow as the Saskatchewan Roughriders host the BC Lions. Both games will air on TSN and RDS in Canada. Outside of Canada, the games will be streamable on CFL Plus.

The Ottawa RedBlacks and Toronto Argonauts have met 2 times this season and both games saw the home team win. Ottawa defeated Toronto in week 14 41-27 and Toronto was victorious over Ottawa in week 20 38-31.

Dru Brown has completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,959 yards and 18 touchdowns with 10 interceptions this season for Ottawa. Justin Hardy was 2nd in the league in receiving yards and first in receptions after catching 97 passes for 1,343 yards and 5 touchdowns. Dominique Rhymes was also over a thousand yards receiving after catching 72 passes for 1,011 yards and 2 touchdowns.

In the secondary, Damon Webb led Ottawa in interceptions with 5. DaShaun Amos led Toronto in interceptions as he also had 5.

BC Lions (9-9) vs Saskatchewan Roughriders (9-8-1) Western Semi-Final Preview: Prediction, Depth Chart, Injuries, Odds, Keys to the Game, Players to Watch

The BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders met twice this season and both games were won by the home team. BC won at home 35-20 in week 6. More recently, Saskatchewan won over BC at home in week 19 by a score of 39-8.

Trevor Harris completed 72.4% of his passes for 3,264 yards and 20 touchdowns with 9 interceptions over 12 games for Saskatchewan. Samuel Emilus led the Riders in receiving with 74 receptions for 1,064 yards and 5 touchdowns. A.J. Ouellette rushed 130 times for 550 yards and 3 touchdowns over 8 games, 4.2 yards per carry.

Vernon Adams Jr. is expected to start for BC. He completed 65.2% of his passes for 2,929 yards and 16 touchdowns with 9 interceptions over 9 starts this season. Justin McInnis led the league in receiving after catching 92 passes for 1,469 yards and 7 touchdowns. William Stanback was 2nd in rushing in the league over the season with 231 carries for 1,175 yards and 3 touchdowns, 5.1 yards per carry.

On defense, BC’s sack leader was Sione Teuhema this season with 7. Rookie linebacker Ryder Varga led the Lions in tackles with 78 with Manny Rugamba close behind with 74.

Micah Johnson and Bryan Cox Jr. led Saskatchewan in sacks with 6 each. Rolan Milligan Jr. led the league in interceptions with 8 for Saskatchewan and also had 91 tackles.
