Yes, it is true that Ottawa is 0-8 and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 4-4 and often a game between teams with those two standings could be considered a trap game.

Now, if you are not familiar with a trap game is, it is a concept where the better team gets trapped into thinking the lesser team has no chance of winning. Thus, the team with the better record actually plays down to their opponent, letting their opponent hang around and even sometimes win.

But there is one reason why this is not a trap game for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and that is simply this Winnipeg is not good enough to call this a trap game.

I can guarantee you, Winnipeg is not coming into this game looking at Ottawa as 0-8 and thinking there is a free spot on the bingo card. Had the Bombers been sitting at 6-2 sure then maybe we are talking about a trap game.

But What About Ottawa's Injuries?

Some fans will probably point out to the fact Ottawa has a fair number of players that are injured or banged up. The RedBlacks also recently fired their defensive coordinator. But wait a minute. We have seen a similar story before about two weeks ago with BC. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and their fans would be wise not to take Ottawa lightly even with the Ottawa's injuries.

Until the Bombers prove otherwise their team that needs to fight claw and scratch in every game and start to string some wins together, especially at home where they are an unimaginable 1-3 in 2026.

The blue bombers have lost two in a row, and their last loss was particularly ugly, allowing for over 300 rush yards in one of them, and many points being put up against their defence in the last three minutes of the last game.

Zach Is back!

Yes, Collaros is back in...but will it make a noticeable difference?
As I’ve mentioned before in previous articles, Zach’s stats and Browns stats are actually quite similar. However, what I will be interested in watching is, how does Zach compare to Brown against the Ottawa red blocks?

Sure, I understand. It’s not the same Ottawa team they’ve cut some players they have fired in personnel and they have different injuries than when Brown played against them.

The Weather
I just got an alert on my phone that from Friday night to Saturday Winnipeg is expected to get a lot of rain. Why does that matter? The passing game might be a tough go. Sure, both teams have to play in the same weather. But for my money, Winnipeg has the best running back in the league.

Oliveira has 658 rushing yards, and Bell for Ottawa is siting with 225. But Winnipeg better not sleep on Bell or the RedBlacks run game...we saw what happened against BC two weeks ago.

For me, this is where the Bombers' offensive coordinator, Tommy Condell shows his true stripes. Has he looked at the weather? Has he game planned for the weather? How does he deploy Brady Oliveira? Brady is listed as a 'game time decision,' but if he can breathe, he will play.

Final Thoughts
This week is going to reveal a lot about the 2026 Blue Bombers. Every CFL writer has picked them to win.

Earlier I wrote, "Who Are The 2026 Blue Bombers? There’s Confusion Around That Question!" I am going to suggest that a lot of that confusion is gone after this game. Either the Bombers are a team that hit a speed bump and have since figured it out. Or they are a team that is going to have a rough ride the rest of the season. There is no in-between. It is time for the Bombers to clear the air on what type of team they are in 2026.
