BC Lions Extend Canadian Bulldozing Receiver Jevon Cottoy Through 2026

The BC Lions announced Thursday they have extended Canadian receiver Jevon Cottoy for 3 years through 2026. Cottoy would have become a free agent on February 13 had a contract not been signed.

WR Jevon Cottoy – Langley Rams (27 y/o, 6’5, 230 lbs)

Jevon Cottoy is coming off of his best season yet as he started all 18 regular season games and caught 57 passes for 807 yards and 4 touchdowns. He added 6 receptions 63 yards and a touchdown in the Western Final victory over Calgary in the playoffs.

Cottoy frequently activated a bulldozing mode throughout the season often catching short passes and plowing his way through defenders downfield. He finished the season 5th in the league in yards after catch with 417.

Cottoy’s production seemed to improve the longer the season went as he had 532 yards over his last 9 games and 3 touchdowns. He was named to Pro Football Focus’s Team of the Week in weeks 16,18, 20, and the Semi-Finals playoff week.

Cottoy was highly impressive in his final season of junior with the Langley Rams in 2018 racking up 39 receptions for 657 yards and 8 touchdowns over 8 games before turning up the heat in the playoffs. In 4 playoff games that year he had 25 catches for 645 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Cottoy joined the Lions for the 2019 season after being a territorial-protected junior player. He was the Lions’ nominee for Most Oustanding Rookie in 2019 as he caught 38 passes for 386 yards.

Cottoy has played in 66 regular season games with the BC Lions since 2019 compiling 184 receptions for 2,263 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The BC Lions now have 2 receivers pending to become free agents on February 13 including Canadian Daniel Petermann and American Lucky Whitehead.
