Montreal gutted out a 30-27 win over Hamilton in Week 1, and Davis Alexander looked clean doing it — 336 yards, 2 TDs, zero interceptions. The Alouettes are 1-0 ATS on the young season and the over hit in their opener, so the 52-point total deserves respect. Toronto comes in with real injury problems at receiver: Jake Herslow and Nolan Ulm are both out, and Dymere Miller has been moved to the reserve roster. That's a thin corps heading into a road game against a defense that hasn't given up a lot of easy yards.

Montreal's own injury report isn't clean either — Cole Spieker is on the six-game injured list, Stevie Scott III's hamstring keeps him out, and Najee Murray has officially been placed on the single-game injury list. But the Alouettes have the depth to absorb those hits. They activated Donovan Manuel at linebacker and got Braydon Noll back on the offensive line. Toronto, meanwhile, added Tyler Kahmann and Anim Dankwah off the practice roster just to fill out their active roster. That's a depth chart in scramble mode.

Players to Watch:

  • Davis Alexander (Montreal, QB) — Went 26-of-38 for 336 yards with 2 TDs and no picks in Week 1; if he's this accurate again, Toronto has no answers.
  • Tyler Snead (Montreal, WR) — Led the Alouettes with 9 catches for 163 yards and a TD in the opener; with Spieker out six games, Snead becomes Alexander's go-to target.
  • Tyrice Beverette (Montreal, LB) — Cleared the injury report (neck) and is active; one of the league's sacks leaders and a matchup nightmare for a Toronto line that's shuffling pieces.

Injury Watch:

  • Jake Herslow (Toronto, WR) — Out (hamstring, single-game injury)
  • Nolan Ulm (Toronto, WR) — Out (shoulder)
  • Dymere Miller (Toronto, WR) — Reserve roster
  • Cole Spieker (Montreal, WR) — Out (six-game injured list, ankle)
  • Stevie Scott III (Montreal, RB) — Out (hamstring, single-game injury extended)
  • Najee Murray (Montreal, DB) — Out (single-game injury, foot)
  • Justin Lawrence (Montreal, OL) — Out (six-game injured list, ankle)

Pick: Montreal 31-21. Alexander picks apart a depleted Toronto receiving corps, the Alouettes cover the -6, and the over is very much in play with both offenses capable of moving the ball.

Quick Hits

  • Montreal placed offensive lineman Mark Petry on a league suspension, then scrambled to add Anthony Vandal to the practice roster and activate Braydon Noll — the O-line depth is being tested early.
  • Toronto is down three receivers for this game — Herslow, Ulm, and Miller — making this arguably the thinnest Argos receiving corps in a Week 2 game in recent memory.
  • Fantasy tip: Tyler Snead is a must-start with Cole Spieker shelved for at least six games — he's clearly Alexander's top option and faces a Toronto secondary that's also dealing with roster flux.
  • Zakhari Franklin was released by Montreal and hit free agency on June 6 — keep an eye on where he lands, as he was a reliable target in this offense.
