Predictions: CFL News Hub Writers’ Week 12 Picks

Week 12 of the CFL season will open up on Thursday with the Saskatchewan Roughriders traveling to take on the Toronto Argonauts who will see quarterback Chad Kelly make his season debut after serving a 9-game suspension. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will face Winnipeg on Friday night in what could be called a must-win game for the Tiger-Cats who need to turn their season around. Nathan Rourke and the BC Lions will travel to take on the Ottawa RedBlacks on Saturday night. The week will wrap up as the Edmonton Elks travel to Montreal to face the Alouettes hoping to extend their 3-game-win streak against the reigning Grey Cup Champions.

All games will be broadcast on TSN in Canada. In the US, the Thursday and Friday games will be streamable for free on CFL Plus while the Saturday and Sunday games will be on CBS Sports Network. All 4 games will be viewable on CFL Plus outside of the US and Canada.

Toronto will hope for a strong second half of their season as they bring QB Chad Kelly back onto the roster who will start in this game.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are coming off a tough 22-47 loss to Edmonton and sit 3 games out of third place in the East. Winnipeg has been enjoying success lately as their last 2 games saw them win over the BC Lions in a commanding fashion. Despite starting 0-4, Winnipeg now finds themselves in third place in the West.

The BC Lions look to end a 4-game losing streak. The Lions lost last week 11-20 in what was Nathan Rourke’s first CFL game since 2022. Ottawa won last week 31-29 led by Jeremiah Masoli at QB who played his first game of the season. Masoli saw both of his last 2 seasons end quickly due to injuries.

They will have a tough task as they travel to face the Montreal Alouettes who only have 1 loss in their last 17 games which saw Cody Fajardo leave near halftime due to injury in week 6. Now Fajardo is back to start for Montreal this weekend.
