CFL Power Rankings Week 19

Calgary Stampeders (4-11-1) @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-10)

Friday, October 18, 7:00 PM Eastern (6:00 PM CT), Hamilton, ON, TSN, RDS (Canada), CBS SN (USA), CFL+ (Global)

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will play their final home game Friday as they host the Calgary Stampeders who are amid an 8-game winless streak. Last week saw Matthew Shiltz pass for 215 yards and a touchdown with 1 interception for Calgary. Despite Hamilton’s struggles this season, Bo Levi Mitchell leads the league in passing as he has completed 68.6% of his passes for 4,576 yards and 26 touchdowns with 16 interceptions.

Writer’s Pick: 86% Hamilton

Ottawa RedBlacks (8-7-1) @ Toronto Argonauts (9-7)

Saturday, October 19, 3:00 PM Eastern (2:00 PM CT), Toronto, ON, CTV (Canada), CFL+ (USA, Global)

The Ottawa RedBlacks have only 1 win in their last 6 and will need to win this week in order to keep their chances alive at hosting a playoff game this year. Last week saw Jeremiah Masoli complete 19 of his 34 passes for 216 yards with 1 interception for Ottawa while Dru Brown did not start due to an ankle injury.

Toronto will secure home field for the Eastern Semi-Final with a win over Ottawa. The playoff game will be between Toronto and Ottawa but it will still be determined who will be the home team. Chad Kelly has completed 66.4% of his passes for 2,120 yards and 7 touchdowns with 8 interceptions over 7 games this season for Toronto.

Writer’s Pick: 57% Toronto

Montreal Alouettes (12-3-1) @ BC Lions (8-9)

Saturday, October 12, 7:00 PM Eastern (6:00 PM CT), Vancouver, BC, TSN, RDS (Canada), CFL+ (USA, Global)

The BC Lions will wrap up their season as they host the Montreal Alouettes. Vernon Adams Jr. will start on Saturday for BC in his first start since he was injured in week 9. After 7 games Adams Jr had 2,395 yards and 14 touchdowns with 5 interceptions before a down week in Winnipeg that saw him injured in week 9. He has been healthy for some time now and the Lions will look to him now as they make their playoff preparations.

Montreal has secured 1st in the East already. Last week saw Davis Alexander get the start at quarterback and improve to 4-0 as a starter. Alexander has completed 69% of his passes for 1,180 yards and 6 touchdowns with 2 interceptions. Cody Fajardo was welcoming a newborn to his family last week. With Montreal having nothing left to gain in the standings we may see more playing opportunities for players typically further down their depth chart.

Writer’s Pick: 100% Montreal
