Predictions: CFL News Hub Writers’ Week 7 Picks

The Edmonton Elks will travel to take on the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday night to open up week 7 as the Elks still look for their first win of the season. Week 7 will wrap up on Sunday night as the Calgary Stampeders host the BC Lions.

The Edmonton Elks still look for their first win of the season after having lost each of their last 3 games on a walk-off game-winning field goal. Ottawa beat Edmonton last week and these 2 teams will rematch on Friday night just 5 days after their previous meeting.

Edmonton quarterback McLoud Bethel Thompson is currently 4th in the league in passing yards having completed 71.7 of his passes for 1,497 yards and 9 touchdowns with 5 interceptions over 5 games. Ottawa quarterback Dru Brown had more passing yards than anyone last week at 480 bringing his current stats up to 1,299 yards and 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions with a 61.6% completion.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have won their last 2 games while Saskatchewan is coming off of their first loss. Zach Collaros had his first game over 300 yards last week and now has 1,140 passing yards and 2 touchdowns with 6 interceptions. Winnipeg’s offense had a slow start to the season but now appears to be running on all cylinders. Shea Patterson has completed 62.1% of his passes thus far and has 511 yards and a touchdown with 1 interception after starting in the last 2 games for the Riders.

The Toronto Argonauts handed Montreal their first loss of the season and will now travel to take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Hamilton is coming off of a bye week and is a team better than their record. Bo Levi Mitchell is 2nd in the league in passing yards for Hamilton but the team will look to have more consistency in other areas to turn the season around.

The BC Lions look to build on their 5 game-winning streak as they travel to take on the Calgary Stampeders who are coming off of a loss to Winnipeg. BC Lions quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. leads the league in passing having completed 67.3% of his passes for 2,203 yards with 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Thus far he has averaged 367 yards per game.
