BC Lions (5-2) @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-6)

Thursday, August 1, 8:30 PM Eastern (7:30 PM Central), Winnipeg, MB, TSN (Canada), CFL + (USA), CFL+ (Global)

The BC Lions travel to Winnipeg to take on the Blue Bombers in a key divisional battle. The Lions will look to put some distance on the Bombers who won the division in each of the last 3 seasons. Winnipeg started their season with a 5-game losing streak. A silver lining in Winnipeg’s 6 losses is the fact that 4 of those losses were by 1 score and 2 of them were in overtime so they may yet be a sleeping dragon. BC on the other hand has had much success led by Vernon Adams Jr. who is on pace currently to finish with the 3rd most passing yards in a CFL season. Adams has 2,395 yards and 14 touchdowns with 5 interceptions over 7 games.

Writer’s Pick: 78% BC

Montreal Alouettes (6-1) @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-5)

Friday, August 2, 7:30 PM Eastern, Hamilton, ON, TSN (Canada), CFL + (USA), CFL+ (Global)

Hamilton won their last 2 games after starting the season with a 5-game losing streak. Bo Levi Mitchell is currently 2nd in the league in passing yards with 2,257 yards and a league-leading 17 touchdowns with 7 interceptions. BLM is coming off a big performance with 316 yards and 5 touchdowns last week in the win over Edmonton. Hamilton’s passing offense has been an unstoppable force lately but they will be meeting an unmovable object in Montreal’s passing defense. Montreal has allowed the fewest passing yards per game at 223.1, the fewest passing touchdowns at 4,  and the lowest opponent passing efficiency at 80.4.

Edmonton Elks (0-7) @ Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-2)

Saturday, August 3, 7:00 PM Eastern (6 PM Central, Regina, SK, TSN (Canada), CBS Sports Network (USA), CFL+ (Global)

After an 0-7 start to the season, the Edmonton Elks will give quarterback Tre Ford some valuable experience as he will get his first start of the season. McLeod Bethel Thompson has played well for the organization but with such a long losing streak it is time to try everything to stop the bleeding. Additionally having Tre Ford not gain experience in a losing season would be a tragedy for the once 1st-round draft selection. The Saskatchewan Roughriders look to bounce back from a close loss to Montreal 16-20 last week. Michigan Wolverines alumni Shea Patterson is 2-2 as a starter for the Riders since stepping in for the injured Trevor Harris. Patterson has completed 63.8% of his passes for 994 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception so far this season.

Writer’s Pick: 67% Saskatchewan

Toronto Argonauts (4-3) @ Calgary Stampeders (3-4)

Sunday, August 4, 7:00 PM Eastern (5 PM MT), Calgary, AB, TSN (Canada), CBS Sports Network (USA), CFL+ (Global)

Week 9 will wrap up with the Calgary Stampeders hosting the Toronto Argonauts. Toronto is coming off of an overtime win over Winnipeg which they won at home last week 16-14. Calgary was on the receiving end of the biggest beatdown so far this season as they lost to Ottawa on the road last week 6-33. Both teams are currently third in their division. So far this season Jake Maier has completed 71.8% of his passes for Calgary for 1,695 yards and 11 touchdowns with 5 interceptions over 7 games. Last week Toronto pulled Cameron Dukes in favor of Nick Arbuckle after the first quarter who completed 12 of his 22 passes for 87 yards. Dukes had started in all 7 of Torontos’s games so far and has completed 72.6% of his passes for 1,221 yards and 6 touchdowns with 5 interceptions.

Writer’s Pick: 89% Toronto
