BC Lions Sign LB Tyrell Adams and DB Justin Ford

The BC Lions announced on Friday the signing of 2 American players. They have signed linebacker Tyrell Adams and defensive back Justin Ford.

LB Tyrell Adams – West Georgia (31 y/o, 6’2, 228 lbs)

Tyrell Adams brings a lot of professional football experience. He has appeared in 44 NFL games with 14 starts over which time he has accumulated 99 solo tackles, 64 assisted tackles, and 2 sacks. He played most of his games with the Houston Texans where he played in 25 total games from 2018 to 2020. He played in 16 games in 2020.

Adams signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015 although he was waived among final roster cuts. He has spent time with many NFL teams with stints with the Seahawks, Chiefs, Raiders, Bills, Colts, Texans, 49ers, and Jaguars.

Adams most recently played in the XFL with the Seattle Seattle Sea Dragons where he appeared in 4 games with 3 starts in 2023. With Seattle, he made 7 solo tackles and 9 assisted tackles. Of the 41 linebackers graded by Pro Football Focus, Adams had the 22nd-highest overall defensive grade. He had the 9th highest grade in pass rushing in that group. The Sea Dragons folded during the XFL USFL merger.

Adams played four seasons for the West Georgia Wolves and was inducted into their hall of fame in 2020. He was All-Gulf South Conference in his junior and senior seasons which saw him lead the team in tackles in both seasons. He helped lead the team to the NCAA Semifinals in 2014 in his senior season. He finished his career with 217 tackles and four interceptions.

DB Justin Ford – Montana (24 y/o, 6’2, 200 lbs)

Justin Ford played his first 2 seasons at Golden West JC in 2017 and 2018. He appeared in 20 games contributing 35 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles, and 4 interceptions.

Ford played for Louisville in 2019 and appeared in 3 games before transferring to Montana for his final 3 seasons. He played in 28 games for Montana with 23 starts from 2020 to 2022. At Montana, he compiled 55 solo tackles, 29 assisted tackles, 28 passes defended, 11 interceptions, 6,5 tackles for a loss, and a sack. He was All-American as well as First Team All-Big Sky in 2021 and 2022.

Ford attended NFL mini-camps with the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings in 2023. He signed with the Houston Gamblers of the USFL in September of 2023. The Gamblers drafted Ford in the second round of the 2023 USFL Collegiate Draft.
