In this week’s edition of stellar CFL performances, we turn the spotlight onto Chad Kelly, Micah Awe, and the solid offensive line of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who led their teams with aplomb in the sixth week of CFL action. Their performances were evaluated and recognized in the Honour Roll, powered by Pro Football Focus (PFF).
As an integral tool in assessing performances, PFF employs an exhaustive review system that scrutinizes every play on the field. Every game, player, and action is parsed to provide over 200 unique data points, feeding into Player Grades. These numerical indicators represent the players’ performances on a scale up to 100, accounting for their specific position.
CFL Honour Roll recognizes the top Player Grades for both offense and defense, as well as the most outstanding offensive line. The top-performing players across the nine position groups receive honourable mentions as part of the All-Week team.
Top Offensive Player – Week 6: Chad Kelly of the Toronto Argonauts showcased his skills in their victory over the Montreal Alouettes. He completed 21-of-25 passes and set season-highs in completion percentage (84.0%), passing yards (351), and passing touchdowns (three). His performance earned him a PFF grade of 93.4, the highest of the week.
Top Defensive Player – Week 6: Calgary Stampeders’ linebacker Micah Awe dominated the defensive play, earning a PFF grade of 81.1 for his efforts in their slim victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. His game-high nine defensive tackles and solid performance on coverage snaps contributed to his top defensive grade.
