The Elks Defeated the Stamps to win the Battle of Alberta for the Second Year

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Elks will go up fourth in the West Division after beating the Calgary Stampeders.

Edmonton Elks won 37-16 on Saturday against rival Calgary Stampeders. Thanks to extraordinary and excellent performance from Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson and Eugene Lewis. During the game, McLeod gave three touchdown passes, two of which went to Eugene, a receiver. This is the second time in a row that The Elks will defeat the same opponent.

How It All Went Down

Roger Staubach, American Football Quarterback – “Winning isn’t getting ahead of others. It’s getting ahead of yourself.

Watching the Elk defense during the game was a thing of marvel. They carry out excellent performance and organization. They forced out a total of five interceptions, making nine interceptions in the last two wins they have had against Calgary. The defense showed strength, talents and discipline, powered by players like Nick Anderson (a linebacker), Locheiz Purifoy (defensive back), Kai Gray, and Devodic Bynum. They all had an excellent performance, closing count for The Elks, who were playing at home.

Hergy Mayala and Tevin Jones, both receivers and Justin Rankin were on the scoresheet as they helped their team capture its fifth win in their last six outings of the current campaign. Bethel Thompson was injured during the game and replaced with Pivot Tre Ford as the team secured their win.

During the game, the Stampeders had difficulty scoring touchdowns. Their quarterback, Logan Bonner, who played instead of Jake Mair, couldn’t record a perfect turnover for the entire game. He threw five interceptions and scored zero touchdowns.

Stampeders defensive lineman Mike Rose was the scorer of the only major during the game. Calgary picked six. So far, they have lost their fourth game in a row.

Edmonton Elks History of Winnings and Trophies

One of the teams to have come and stayed in the Canadian Football League, Edmonton Elks, is a popular name in the country and the continent. Their fame rests on their long history of winning. Currently, they hold 14 Grey Cup championships.

Recently, there have been rumors that CasinoCanada, known for its thorough casino reviews from experts, might become an official partner of the Edmonton Elks. This collaboration could unite the passion for victory on the field with a commitment to high standards in the online casino industry.

Some of the greatest players who played for the Elks have touched or won a Green and Gold. Many coaches who have taken the job have appeared many times on the honorary list of names in the football league. There was a time when the club ceased to exist. Between 1925 and 1927, there was no club called Edmonton Elks anymore because they had folded. But two years later, the club bounced back and gave its fans performances to look forward to.

There have been memorable moments for the club. In 1949, the club was called Edmonton Eskimos. The coach at the time was Anis Stulkus. Under this man, the club grew, and the coach got his name used as the name of the CFL’s annual coach award. Yes, the performance was so great at the time that they named an award after him, but it’s not only the coach who made that possible. Edmonton Eskismo had great players like Jackie Parker and Johnny Bright.

Between 1978 and 1982, things were remarkable for The Elks. They won the Grey Cups five consecutive times. They had some of the finest, like Tom Wilkinson, Warren Moon, and Hugh Campbell. During this period and the following year, the city where The Elks called home became popularly called ‘the city of champions.’

Club Ownership After 75th Anniversary

The club was ‘community owned’ for a long time until its 75th anniversary. The 75-year run of ownership came to an end after the club was acquired by the magnate Larry Thompson. Larry is into heavy construction and was introduced at the CommonWealth Stadium after he acquired the club. Rumors spread quickly, and some said he would have the club renamed to what its name used to be back in 1925—Edmonton Eskimos.

In the interview on that same day, he said, “I don’t think that’s a question for today. Today, I want to be a fun, celebrative day for everybody: the fans, the city of Edmonton, and the Elks Club.

Current Team Strength

When the seasons began, some pundits said The Elks might go home with nothing. The team didn’t start well. They lost some of the first few games, and their quarterbacks played poorly, too. They signed big names like McLeod Bethel Thompson as an addition to their struggling defense. Months went by, and poor performance persisted.

Good performances started happening when they assigned Jarious Jackson as their head coach. One of their players, Tre Ford, went ahead to help them win a couple of games. That was the start of Elks’s good performances and they’d begun to climb up the West Division.

Their Best Players

  • Eugene Lewis
  • Tre Ford
  • McLeod Bethel Thompson
  • Nick Anderson
  • Loucheiz Purifoy

With the recent victory, the Elks have further established their dominance as the regional champion. Thus, their position as a force to be reckoned with in the CFL West Division is without any doubt.
