Vernon Adams Jr. and the Stampeders outlasted a furious Ottawa comeback bid to escape McMahon Stadium with a 40-38 win.
The Calgary Stampeders needed every last point to hold off the Ottawa Redblacks, who put up 38 points and 426 yards of offense and still walked away with nothing to show for it. Calgary improves to 7-8 and keeps its playoff pulse alive, while Ottawa drops to 0-14 on the season despite arguably its best offensive output of the year. Rene Paredes hit from 62 yards in the final seconds to keep the Redblacks from its first win of the season.

Quick Hits
Bethel-Thompson threw five touchdown passes and still ended up on the losing side — Ottawa's defense simply couldn't slow down Calgary's ground game or Adams' arm when it mattered.
Quincy Vaughn punched in two short-yardage touchdowns on the ground, and those four extra points were the difference in a two-point final margin.
Keelan White turned three targets into three touchdowns — an efficient, if quiet, night that fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on.
