BC Lions 2025 Schedule Breakdown

The 2025 CFL schedule was released on Thursday and features the BC Lions facing the Edmonton Elks at home in week 1. The Lions will face every team twice with the exception of the Edmonton Elks and Saskatchewan Roughriders who they will face three times each. BC will host Edmonton for their first home game of the season as well as their last. The Lions will play Saskatchewan on the road 2 times in 2025.

The Lions open up their season at home as they host the Edmonton Elks on a Saturday night. Last year saw the BC defeat Edmonton in week 4 by a score of 24-21 at home while they later lost to the Elks on the road 16-33 in week 9 which was Edmonton’s first win of the season. Edmonton was a snake-bitten team beginning the season 0-8 last year despite many games being very close. The elks are under new management with Ed Hervey serving as GM and Mark Kilam serving as head coach.

Tre Ford is expected to serve as the team’s starting quarterback moving forward with an experienced Cody Fajardo behind him.

BC will hit the road in week 2 to take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers who have won the West Division for 5 straight seasons. Last season saw BC and Winnipeg meet 3 times. BC won on the road 26-24 in week 3 before later being shut out in week 9 0-25 in a game that saw Vernon Adams Jr. injured late in the game. In week 11 BC hosted Winnipeg and lost 11-20.

Week 3: vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Lions will host the Blue Bombers in week 3 taking them on in back to back. These matches against Winn

ipeg could have serious playoff implications despite them not meeting again in the regular season after week 3.

Week 4: at Saskatchewan Roughriders

The first of 3 meetings this season between Saskatchewan and BC will be in week 4 at Mosiac. Last season saw BC win against the Riders in week 6 35-20 at home. They later lost on the road to Saskatchewan in week 19 8-39 after which the Lions switched back to Vernon Adams Jr away from Nathan Rourke. The Lions postseason saw them lose to the Riders in the West Semi-Final 19-28.

The Lions travel to Montreal in week 5 for their first match against an Eastern opponent. Last season saw the Lions win against Montreal in week 14 37-23 and again in week 20 27-3. Montreal has named Davis Alexander as their quarterback moving on from Cody Fajardo who they traded to Edmonton in exchange for McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

The Lions will meet the Tiger-Cats in week 8 and again in week 10 after their first bye. Last year saw the Lions defeat Hamilton 44-28 in week 5 on the road and later lose at home 29-32 in week 17 which took double overtime to decide the winner. The Tiger-Cats finished the season 7-11 last year.

BC will have their first meeting against the reigning Grey Cup Champs in week 12. The Lions lost to Toronto in week 1 last season on the road 27-35 and lost again in week 15 at home 17-33.

The Lions will see their 2 meetings against Ottawa played in a back-to-back with the first being on the r

oad. Last season saw the Lions lose on the road in week 12 by a score of 27-34 before winning at home in week 13 38-12.

The 2nd and final meeting against the RedBlacks.

Week 16: at Calgary Stampeders

The Lions will meet Calgary for the first time in the regular season in week 16. Vernon Adams Jr. was traded to Calgary this offseason and this will be his first chance to face his old team. Last season saw the Stampeders lose to BC in week 2 by a score of 26-17. Calgary defeated BC in week 7 25-24 before BC won their final meeting in week 18 by a score of 32-15. The Stampeders fell out of the playoff race due to a 9-game winless streak in the final 10 games before finishing the season 5-12.

Week 17: vs. Toronto Argonauts

The 2nd and final meeting against the Argonauts. It will be the last time the Lions face an Eastern team

in the regular season.

Week 18: vs. Calgary Stampeders

The 2nd and final meeting against the Stampeders. It will mark Vernon Adams Jr.’s return in a visitor’s jersey.

Week 20: vs. Edmonton Elks
