Calgary Stampeders Enlist American Receiver Jahleel Billingsley from Texas

The Calgary Stampeders have bolstered their practice roster with the addition of American receiver Jahleel Billingsley, a new prospect from Texas.

Born on May 17, 2001, in Chicago, Illinois, Billingsley stands at 6.04 feet tall and weighs 217 pounds. This promising athlete boasts an impressive background in college football, having played as a tight end at Alabama for his initial three seasons. Over 36 games, he achieved 37 receptions for 559 yards and six touchdowns. In 2022, he transferred to Texas for his senior season, where he completed three receptions for 38 yards in four games.

Billingsley’s early life was spent in Chicago, where he attended Wendell Phillips Academy High School. Here, he showcased his versatile skills by playing various positions for the Wildcats, including tight end, receiver, wildcat quarterback, and defensive line. As a four-star prospect, he committed to Alabama over multiple other offers, becoming the first recruit from Illinois since 1997.

During his collegiate career, he participated in nine games as a freshman, caught 18 passes in the Crimson Tide’s 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship win, and led the team with 89 kick return yards. Despite being moved down the depth chart in 2021, Billingsley was able to score a 26-yard touchdown in a crucial game against Florida. After a short stint with the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Rookie Draft in 2023, he now joins the Calgary Stampeders, bringing his strong performance record with him.
