What we saw in week 10 was a lot of high energy. There were high-scoring games, as well as close-knit games that went down to the wire. It was a treat to see BC on the road in Hamilton and exact revenge from their previous meeting at home vs. Hamilton. Edmonton shocked Montreal on the road, while in the Battle of Ontario, a whopping 88 combined points were scored. There were no issues with Dr. Emmitt L. Brown’s flux capacitor, as Ottawa toppled Toronto. And last but not least, Calgary came away with a victory from a walk-off field goal.
Hello, CFL fans. Here are your CFL News Hub power rankings. The aftermath of week 10:
Record: 7-1
Previous ranking: 1
Saskatchewan had the luxury of rest for week 10. After all, with a 7-1 record, any team would love to have a bye week before the Labour Day weekend. Because after Labour Day, no matter what a team's record is, post Labour Day will separate the contenders from the pretenders.
Next game: Saturday, August 16th, 2025, vs. Hamilton

Hamilton has nothing to be ashamed of after week 10. Entering the game vs. BC with a 6-game winning streak is quite the achievement. Unfortunately, every streak will come to an end. They met a hungry BC team that felt they let their week 8 meeting at home against Hamilton slip away. Hamilton was still able to keep within the game and not fold. Unfortunately, the tables were turned on Hamilton in a thrilling 41-38 overtime loss to BC. The one big difference for the 2025 edition of the Tiger-Cats as opposed to the last three seasons is simple. They are a resilient team.

Calgary has been a good surprise to see this football season. Rubbing shoulders against a Western Divisional foe and coming out on top always eases the skeptics. The one thing that Calgary did against Winnipeg was keep them off the scoreboard as a major threat in the 2nd half. By only giving up 4 points, they stalled Winnipeg. The only concern was the lack of ball possessions transitioning into touchdowns. It was the leg of Rene Paredes that saved the day for the Stamps, going 4 for 5 in field goals made. It was Rene Paredes who scored all of Calgary’s 16 points in the 2nd half. Most notably, it was the last field goal to seal the victory. Sometimes football works that way. When the offence has some struggles, never shy away from points off special teams.
Next game: Calgary will be on a bye in week 11. Their next scheduled game will be on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, vs. Saskatchewan.
4 – BC Lions
Record: 4-5
Previous ranking: 6
For the West Division and East Division, which only meet twice on a CFL calendar for a regular season match, a lot of fans loved it when BC would play Hamilton. The two games that are now set in the books between the two clubs were nothing short of getting your money's worth. BC needed this win to keep within distance of Saskatchewan, Calgary, and Winnipeg. What they finally did in this game against Hamilton was something that felt like it had not been witnessed in a while. They played a full sixty minutes. In a back-and-forth battle, it was a Tim White fumble in overtime that sealed Hamilton’s fate. The recovery of DL Dewayne Hendrix would then stall the Hamilton possession in the 1st series. With now only a field goal to win, BC’s Sean Whyte put the final nail in the coffin with his field goal to give BC a 41-38 victory.
Next game: Saturday, August 16th, 2025, vs. Montreal
Record: 4-4

There are a lot of naysayers about the 2025 Blue Bombers. It is inevitable. When you are a team that won the West Division five years in a row and played in five straight Grey Cups, the negativity will follow you for the duration of the season. Currently, with a 4-4 record, those voices are more prevalent. However, this is still Winnipeg. Fans know that they can turn their season around. Last season, the Blue Bombers were 2-6 at about the same time of this season. The problem that has been more widely publicized this season than in the past is their consistency. Since starting the season 3-0, Winnipeg has been 1-4 in their last five games. Their only victory after week 4 (Winnipeg began week 1 on a bye week and had another in week 6) was in week 9 vs. Toronto. It’s crunch time for Winnipeg. The 28-27 loss to Calgary put a wrench in their plans for now.
Next game: Thursday, August 14th, 2025, vs. Ottawa
Record: 5-4
Previous ranking: 5
There was a level of hype the week leading up to this game with the possibility of QB Cody Fajardo coming back to haunt his old team. And he did just that. Montreal is not the same team without QB Davis Alexander anchoring the offence. That is one thing. The other is that they were unable to beat Edmonton on special teams. There were good parts of the game when Montreal would receive the ball from either a kickoff or a punt return, only to get stuffed deep in their zone to begin a series. This gave a motivational boost to Edmonton. Before the 1st half coming to an end, McLeod Bethel-Thompson tosses a pass into the flats in dead space. Tyrell Ford baited McLeod Bethel-Thompson and intercepted the pass, scoring on an 87-yard return. Edmonton did enough to halt Montreal mainly in the 2nd half to keep the win in reach. It was a game that Montreal let slip away in a bad showing.

7 – Ottawa Redblacks
Record: 3-6

Ottawa visited Toronto at BMO Field in the Battle of the Capitals. Ottawa is the Nation’s Capital, while Toronto is the Provincial Capital. What fans saw in this game was one for the ages. Ottawa was down 22-1 at the end of the 1st quarter. Anyone who has followed the CFL long enough knows that leads evaporate at any given moment. Ottawa played a game where both teams, for that matter, are in desperation mode. Both Toronto and Ottawa, at a 2-6 record entering week 10, were hungry to improve their record. Dru Brown was unfazed by the task at hand. He would have a career-high with 5 touchdown passes.
Next game: Thursday, August 14th, 2025, at Winnipeg
8 – Edmonton Elks
Record: 2-6
Previous ranking: 9
Edmonton was on the road searching for when their identity would finally come to fruition. It was a struggle in the 1st half facing a stingy Montreal defence. Hope came in the form of Tyrell Ford with his 87-yard interception for a touchdown at the end of the 1st half. Cody Fajardo kept the game manageable by having the benefit of Justin Rankin earning hard-earned yards. It was the Edmonton defence that stood tall and stalled many of Montreal's drives. Montreal was unable to get into a rhythm when the 2nd half arrived. Montreal were unable to run the ball as they were stuffed at, or close to, the line of scrimmage. This was a testament to the Edmonton coaching staff as a whole. More importantly, this was one of the best games they played on special teams.
Next game: Friday, August 15th, 2025, vs. Toronto
Record: 2-7
Previous ranking: 8
For a team that’s been struggling, Toronto was looking for anything they could do in their power to secure a much-needed victory against visiting Ottawa. The offence was there. The problem, as it has been this season, is their special teams and defence. Forget even squandering a 22-1 lead after the 1st quarter. The Toronto defence was completely exposed. They were unable to get any pressure on Dru Brown for the majority of the game. When it came to defending the pass, Dru Brown had a field day torching the Toronto defence with 373 yards and 5 touchdowns.
