Edmonton Elks Unveil 2024 Coaching Lineup

The Edmonton Elks have officially announced their coaching staff for the 2024 season. Highlighting the list is the return of Jason Shivers, taking on the roles of assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach.

Shivers is joined by several new faces, including Markus Klund (defensive backs), Albert Poree (running backs), Nate O’Neal (defensive line), and Takoby Cofield (assistant offensive line). These appointments complement the roster of returning coaches such as Jarious Jackson (offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach) and Markus Howell (receivers coach and pass game coordinator), reinforcing the team’s strategic expertise.

Jason Shivers: A Familiar Face Returns

Jason Shivers is not new to the Edmonton Elks or Chris Jones, having previously contributed to the team’s 2015 Grey Cup victory. After a stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Shivers brings his extensive experience back to Edmonton. His professional career spans both playing and coaching roles in the CFL and NFL.

Diverse Expertise Among Coaching Staff

The new hires under Shivers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. Markus Klund previously contributed to building a formidable defense at Southwest Baptist University. Albert Poree, with a recent background at Southeastern Louisiana Lions, has been influential in offensive strategies. Nate O’Neal, known for his defense coaching at Under Armour All-America Football, and Takoby Cofield, a former player with a considerable professional playing career, complete the line-up. Each coach brings unique skills and insights to the Edmonton Elks.

With a blend of returning talents and new hires, the Edmonton Elks’ coaching staff for 2024 promises a competitive season ahead. The team’s leadership now boasts a rich diversity in coaching philosophies and strategies, aiming to build on past successes and steer the Elks towards future victories.
