Jim Mullin on Why CFL 4-Down Talk Devalues Canadian Game + Greg Peach, Sergio Castillo Interviews

Jim Mullin, President of Football Canad and host of Krown Gridiron Nation on TSN joins us to discuss the CFL’s most pressing off-season issues. We dicuss why even humoring a CFL to 4-down coversation devalues the Canadian game through every level of Canadian football. We also preview the BC Lions and Edmonton Elks 2022 season after looking at their off-season moves and chat a little USFL.

We have two player interviews including former Edmonton/Hamilton/Winnipeg player Greg Peach and current Edmonton Elks and former XFL’er Sergio Castillo. Greg Peach talks about he and other players using their own training camps and programs as a way to build interest in football for the younger generation, the strengths of the CFL game and more. Sergio Castillo talks his journey through professional football thus far, his time in the XFL, CFL, NFL and more!

We also do a deep-dive into the newly released USFL rulebook courtesty of the XFL rules creator Sam Schwartzstein and get an update on the “real” USFL v. USFL lawsuit from Michael Cohen.

Anyone who says converting to 4 down football talk devaluates the CFL has to answer the question about why scores have been so low lately? Is it because the quality of our quarterbacks is much lower these days? Going to 4 downs might increase scoring somewhat and we can keep the rest of the rules Canadian, including the wider field, 12 men, motion in the backfield and the rouge.
