PR: After fan voting: Hamburg Sea Devils with eleven players at the All-Star Game in Berlin – Ex-NFL quarterback Josh Booty leads the US national team on Sunday

PRESS RELEASE

In the championship game, the Hamburg Sea Devils had to admit defeat, but in the voting for All-Star Game on Sunday (3:30 pm) in the Jahn-Sportpark in Berlin against the US National Team, Hamburg is clearly number one: eleven players were voted into the squad by fans of the European League of Football. This is the strongest group, followed by league champs Frankfurt Galaxy (8), the Leipzig Kings (6), Cologne Centurions (5), Panthers Wroclaw (4), Berlin Thunder, Barcelona Dragons (both 3), and Stuttgart Surge (2). So all eight franchises of the premiere season are represented.

The league had asked for voting on its homepage and social media channels, and more than 100,000 votes were cast. The European League of Football team is led by the quarterbacks Salieu Ceesay (Hamburg) and Jan Weinreich (Cologne) at the grand finale. Remi Bertellin (Barcelona), Anthony Mahoungou (Frankfurt), Timothy Knuettel (Leipzig) as well as Przemyslaw Banat and Jakub Mazan (both Wroclaw) won the position of wide receivers. Kicker Philip Friis Andersen (Hamburg) will provide field goals.

“The final between the Galaxy and the Sea Devils last Sunday was really a football spectacle, a game at an incredibly high level in front of a great crowd with more than 20,000 people in the stadium. With the All-Star Game on the Day of German Unity in Berlin and in the immediate vicinity of Mauerpark, we want to end a great first season of the European League of Football together with the fans. We’re looking forward to the All-Star Game but above all to the fan huddle and the get-together of the football family before the game.”

Commissioner Patrick Esume

The All-Stars of the continental league face the US National Team. For the trip to the German capital, head coach Rudy Wyland put together a strong line-up of experienced and talented players who were used at the highest level in college. In the position of quarterback, the Executive Director of the US Federation of American Football relies on Conor Miller, once with the Cologne Crocodiles and most recently on the field for the Graz Giants, as well as veteran Josh Booty.

The 46-year-old HC can look back on an extraordinary professional career, first playing in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a third baseman for the Florida Marlins and later playing in the National Football League (NFL) with the Seattle Seahawks, the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders as a QB. On Sunday he shows his skills in the dress of the US National Team against the All-Stars of the European League of Football.
