All-Star Linebacker Adam Bighill Extended

WINNIPEG, MB – Today the Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced that they have signed all-star linebacker Adam Bighill to a one-year contract extension.

Bighill is a five-foot-ten 219 pound American line back from Montesano, W.A. Bighill finished his amateur career at Central Washington University (CWU), where he only played during his senior year. In that time he totaled 96 total tackles, 56 solo tackles, 40 assisted tackles, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three and a half sacks.

After going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft, Bighill turned to the CFL. He signed with the British Columbia Lions. There he would play with the Lions for six seasons totaling 99 games played and won Grey Cup Championship in 2011 before playing for the Blue Bombers in 2018.

Bighill will be returning for his fourth season in Winnipeg and fans all over are elated to have one of the most decorated defensive players back in blue and gold. In his first three seasons with the Blue Bombers, he played in 47 games where he recorded 236 defensive tackles, 10 sacks, six interceptions, two touchdowns, and six forced fumbles.

Bighills’ impressive play has to lead him to be lauded as the CFL Most Outstanding Player twice in 2018 and 2021, CFL All-Star twice in 2018 and 2021, CFL Players Association All-star twice in 2018 and 2021, West Division All-Star twice(2018 and 2021), Most Outstanding Defensive Player in the West Division (Norm Fieldgate Trophy) twice in 2018 and 2021, Blue Bombers Most Outstanding Player in 2018 and Blue Bombers Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2018 and 2021.

Now a three-time Grey Cup champion – 2019 and 2021 with the Blue Bombers and 2011 with the Lions – Bighill has played in 146 games in his CFL career and ranks eighth in league history in all-time in total tackles.
