Montreal Alouettes Coaching Developments

The Montreal Alouettes have solidified their coaching lineup for the next Canadian Football League season with significant announcements made Wednesday. Head Coach Jason Maas will continue his command of the team, following a two-season extension of his contract.

Offensive and Defensive Appointments

The offensive strategy will be guided by Anthony Calvillo, who steps in as the offensive coordinator. Calvillo will also manage the quarterbacks. Michael Lionello is set to enhance the passing game while also continuing his role overseeing the receivers.

Noel Thorpe, acclaimed for facilitating the team’s defensive prowess, which was pivotal in their recent Grey Cup win, remains the defensive coordinator. He will also sustain his responsibilities as the defensive backs coach, with Chandler Jones providing support.

Coaching for Key Positions

Positional coaches are poised to follow through on the team’s success. Corey Irvin will persist in leading the defensive line. Luc Brodeur-Jourdain retains his coaching duties for the offensive line, together with David Brown, who transitions from his position as a player. Meanwhile, the running backs will adapt to guidance from Dave Jackson, who shifts from special teams.

Special Teams and Linebackers Coaching Set

Special teams will continue under the expertise of Bryon Archambault, who also serves as an assistant to the head coach, ensuring a coalesced approach to the team’s strategies. On the other hand, Greg Quick will remain the linebackers coach, bringing stability and continuity to the defensive unit.

With the coaching staff confirmed and roles clearly assigned, the Montreal Alouettes look ahead to preparing for an ambitious season in the CFL.
