BC Lions Sign American Linebacker Joe Beckett

The BC Lions announced on Thursday they have signed American linebacker Joe Beckett. He was a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers through training camp and preseason last year although he was released amid final roster cuts.

Joe Beckett – Wofford (24 y/o, 6’2, 240)

Joe Beckett played his collegiate ball at Wofford College. He played in 53 games with 28. He recorded 183 career tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble returned for a touchdown. In his final season in 2021, he amassed 35 solo tackles, 45 assisted tackles, 4 TFLs, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown.

On his pro day in 2022, he ran a 4.56 40-yard dash, a 36-inch vertical, a 10-foot broad jump, a 4.53-second 20-yard shuttle, and a 7.41-second 3-cone drill.

Following his collegiate career he was invited to a rookie camp with the New York Giants in 2022. He signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers ahead of the 2023 season and recorded 4 tackles in 2 preseason games but was released among final roster cuts.
