The BC Lions announced a series of roster moves on Monday, including re-signing 3 players in quarterback Chase Brice through 2027, defensive back T.J. Lee III through 2026, and Canadian offensive lineman Andrew Pierson through 2026. The Lions also added offensive tackle Isiah Cage.
DB T.J. Lee III – Eastern Washington (5’9, 190 lbs)
T.J. Lee III will be back for his 12th season on a one-year deal to keep him in the orange and black. Lee entered the CFL in 2014 and has since played in 144 regular-season games, all with the Lions. He has recorded 616 defensive tackles, 7 sacks, 29 interceptions, a touchdown, and 9 forced fumbles over his CFL career. He joined the Lions in September last season and appeared in 5 games, recording 31 tackles, a sack, an interception, and a forced fumble. He added 9 tackles over 2 playoff games this past postseason.
“T.J. is the longest-tenured Lion for a reason,” stated Lions’ General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden. “He will continue to be a leader on this team, as he has for well over a decade. As an organization, we could not be happier to have him back.”
Lee has been a 3-time West Division All-Star (2018, 2021, and 2023) and 2-time CFL All-Star (2018 and 2023).
QB Chase Brice – Appalachian State (6’2, 236 lbs)
Chase Brice will return for his fourth season with the Lions, signing a 2-season extension 1 week before CFL free agency begins on February 10. He has suited up in 38 regular-season games for the Lions, over which he has completed 25 of his 33 passes (75.8%) and 261 yards and a touchdown.
Brice began his collegiate career with Clemson, dressing in 25 games from 2017 to 2019. He played for Duke in 2020, starting in all 11 games he appeared in. He played his final 2 seasons with Appalachian State, starting in 26 games. Over his NCAA career, he completed 736 of his passes (60%) for 9,451 yards and 73 touchdowns with 36 interceptions. He also rushed 263 times for 548 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Brice generated interest from the NFL and UFL after college, in addition to the CFL. He had NFL mini-camps with the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders in 2023. He was also drafted by the Houston Gamblers in the USFL 2023 college draft.
OL Andrew Peirson – Gannon (6’3, 300 lbs)
Andrew Pierson played in every game last season, including 6 regular-season starts at center. He was the recipient of the Tom Pate Memorial Trophy this past offseason which is given to the CFL player who best demonstrated Sportsmanship and community service. He has also won the Lions’ Jamie Taras Award for Best Community Service 5 times.
Peirson signed with BC as an undrafted free agent in May of 2018 and has since played in 86 regular-season games.
OL Isiah Cage – Wisconsin-Eau Claire (6’4, 312 lbs)
Isaiah Cage was a key part of the Toronto Argonauts in 2023 and 2024, appearing and starting in 24 games. He started in the first 14 games of the regular season in 2024 before suffering a season-ending injury. He was the 8th highest graded tackle in the CFL by Pro Football Focus over the 2024 season. He was granted an early release in February of 2025, but did not appear in the CFL over the 2025 season.
Cage first joined the CFL in 2018 and spent time on the practice roster before starting the final 4 games of the season at left tackle. 2019 saw him play in 7 games before a season-ending injury shut him down for the year. When the CFL returned in 2021 after the covid shutdown season, he was unable to play due to an ankle injury sustained in training camp. Cage was limited to 2 regular-season games in 2022 due to injuries.
