Blue Bombers Add Former Université de Montréal Coach Jason Hogan To Staff

WINNIPEG, MB.,– The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced the addition of Jason Hogan to the coaching staff as the running backs coach for the 2022 season.

Hogan will bring a wealth of experience to the Blue Bombers as he replaces Pete Costanza, who left to join the Toronto Argonauts. Hogan was most recently a part of the Université de Montréal Carabins coaching staff beginning in 2018. There he wore multiple hats during his tenure with the team serving as the club offensive coordinator, a running back coach, a wide receiver coach, and a quarterback coach.

Prior to joining the Carabins, Hogan spent two years with the Montréal Alouettes, beginning as an offensive quality control coach before serving as defensive assistant and receivers coach.

The decision leave the Cabins wasn’t an easy one especially since he and his wife just welcomed their four-month-old child Noah into the world said Coach Hogan.

“I was torn at first because of the relationships I have there,” he said. “It’s a phenomenal group and the running backs and receivers I coached were amazing – I’m sure we’ll see a couple in the CFL this year and in the following years. The staff made it feel like home and I had a good situation there both in terms of stability and financially.

“But like I’ve been telling everybody when a guy like Buck Pierce calls – and I watched him in the CFL and loved his game – you’ve got to listen. And then when there’s a follow-up call from Coach O’Shea, who I’ve heard nothing but great stuff about, you have to consider it.

“It was the right time in our lives to do this. We said, ‘How many times is an opportunity like this going to come around?’ How many times is a guy like Coach Osh going to call, after winning two Grey Cups in a row, about a job and this opportunity?’”
