Blue Bombers adds Malik Clements to Roster

WINNIPEG, MB. – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced that the club has signed American defensive player Malik Clements.

Clements is a six-foot 230-pound linebacker out of Cincinnati University. During his amateur career at Cincinnati Clements recorded 187 total tackles, six passes deflected, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception.

In 2017, Clements was one of the Top-5 tacklers on the team with 60 stops. He set a career-high with 18 tackles in the season opener against Austin Peay. Was named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after his game-winning, interception return for a TD at Miami (OH).

Following the completion of his career at Cincinnatti Clements he signed to play with the Edmonton Elks. There he appeared in seven games with the Elks in 2021, recording 11 defensive tackles and two special teams tackles. 

Clements was released by the green and gold and were soon picked up by the Blue Bombers. Edmonton would be joining an elite Linebacker group led by Adam Bighill.
