Blue Bombers Sign Former McMaster University LB Eric Mezzalira & Re-sign Rutgers WR Carlton Agudosi

WINNIPEG, MB.,– The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that the club has signed Canadian native Eric Mezzalira.

Mezzalira is a six-foot 225lbs linebacker out of McMaster University. As a Marauder, he appeared in 36 games totaling 141 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and one fumble recovery.

After the completion of his amateur career at McMasters, Mezzalira was selected to the Ontario Regional Combine where he earned an invitation to the CFL National Combine. He scored the highest result on the Wonderlic at the combine. Mezzalira was drafted in the second round, 17th overall, by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2018 CFL Draft and signed with the team in May of 2018.

He played in 28 games over four seasons (2014-17) at McMaster, accumulating 95.5 total tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups.

The Blue Bombers also announced that the team has re-signed American weapon Carlton Agudosi. Agudosi spent 2021 on the club’s practice roster.

Agudosi is a six-foot-six American wide Receiver out of Rutger University. As a Scarlet Knight, Agudosi appeared in 34 games where he recorded 434 yards on 30 receptions scoring two touchdowns.

After the conclusion of his mature career with Rutgers, he declared for the 2017 NFL Draft. After not hearing his name called he signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He was waived by the team a few months later but immediately signed to the practice squad. He would stay with the Cardinals until 2018 when he moved on to the Philadelphia Eagles and then in the XFL with the St. Louis BattleHawks before coming to Winnipeg in 2021.
