Blue Bombers sign T.J. Simmons

WINNIPEG, MB.– The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that the club has signed American offensive player T.J. Simmons.

Simmons is a six-foot-two wide receiver out of West Virginia University. As a mountaineer, Simmons appeared in 30 games(21 starts) and recorded 86 receptions for 1197 yards scoring nine touchdowns.

Simmons finished 33rd nationally and 2nd in the Big 12 in yards per reception (17.4). He was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after recording four catches for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns against TCU. He ended his career in the old gold and blue on a high note by earning WVU Offensive and Liberty Bowl MVP honors as he caught four passes for 56 yards and two touchdowns.

After the completion of his amateur career at West Virginia, Simmons declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. Simmons would go on to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent, but would not make the final teams roster.

Simmons now makes it nine total wide receivers for the Blue Bombers so far. He will be joining Ellingson as the new face in the blue and gold wide receiver group.
