As the Bombers get set to play Calgary, they must be feeling twice as lucky as they did last week.
For the first time in forever, there are two guys on the Bombers named “Lucky.” Lucky Ogbevoen, at linebacker, and of course newly signed Lucky Whitehead.
The Bombers will also be going for their second win in a row, and the injury report looks more favorable than earlier this week.
The Bombers would also be lucky if the injuries would finally come to an end!
Talking about being lucky, Zach Collaros looked pretty jovial in the media scrum after Wednesday’s practice; and that is a good sign.
And on Thursday, as expected, Zach was listed as the starter.
And the Bombers would be extremely lucky if Kenny Lawler could draw back in to the lineup, but that will have to wait for at least another week.
Up until a week ago, if the Bombers did not have bad luck, they would have had no luck at all. And the Bombers still have time to make some noise in the West. Calgary currently sits 2-2 so a Bomber win against them on Friday would go a long way to the beginning of turning the season around.
I know, it looks like Saskatchewan and BC are going to lock up first and second place in the West. But hold on. The CFL season is a long season! Not so long ago the Bombers started the season 7-1 and Saskatchewan started 1-7. How did that season end? With the Bombers going 1-7, and Saskatchewan going 7-1.
And maybe it is just me. Maybe I am just being nostalgic, but this year is starting to feel like 2019. If could be the fact that Streveler and Whitehead are back. It could be the fact that the Bombers are not blowing anybody out. And it could be the fact that it looks like the Bombers will need to be road warriors in the playoffs. However you slice it, it would be foolish to already count the Bombers out.
